Five generations of the Saville family, one quiet promise to the families we serve.
The story begins in 1875, on Southwark Bridge Road, when the Saville family first opened the doors of a small funeral business. It was a different London then. The family's commitment to the people they served was no different from today.
In 1931 Mr Percy Saville moved the business north to its present home on the corner of Napier Road and the High Road in Wembley — a building that has since seen four further generations of the family come through its doors. His wife Ethel managed the office and quietly held the business together through some of the most difficult years a family business can know.
Their son Graham joined the family business in 1965, followed by his wife Susan in 1985. The business grew with them. A branch in Wealdstone opened in 1956. In 1985 the firm acquired L J Butler & Son in Kenton, along with Stonebridge Funeral Service in Edgware.
The third generation joined in turn — Adrian Saville in 1985, his brother Phillip Saville in 1990. Both brothers were awarded the prestigious Harold Rivett Award, given for the highest funeral-director marks in the London area.
Graham and Susan retired in early 2020. Today the business is led by Adrian Saville, with more than 35 years of experience caring for local families. The promise remains the one Percy and Ethel made nearly a century ago: to look after each family the way we would want our own to be looked after.
